Wrestling at ETKO Sports Academy
At ETKO Sports Academy, our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of fitness for people of all ages. This vision was brought to life by our Director and Commonwealth Bronze Medalist, Vio Etko, who developed our wrestling programme to raise the standard of wrestling in the local area and ignite a passion for the sport.
The programme is designed to introduce children of all abilities to wrestling, focusing on the sport’s fundamentals while teaching technical skills in a controlled and supportive environment. Vio has carefully crafted a three-stage progression, with each stage building on key wrestling skills and incorporating fun games and exercises to improve muscular endurance, coordination, balance, speed, flexibility and body awareness.
Each session is structured with clear lesson plans tailored to each skill level, ensuring steady progress. After completing each stage, participants will have a solid understanding of basic wrestling techniques and may be invited to join our wrestling development sessions, where they’ll learn how to apply their skills in a competitive setting.
